Our Story - His Story
We descend from Armenian Pentecostals who immigrated to the U.S. in the early 1900s due to prophetic guidance. Demos Shakarian’s book, The Happiest People on Earth, recounts the story of Efim, an illiterate boy from Kara Kala, Armenia. In the mid-1800s, Efim was given a prophetic vision and wrote detailed warnings and directions on paper for seven days. His parents took the writings to the village elders - the warnings predicted a horrific event in Armenia, involving the brutal murder of hundreds of thousands of people, and urged them to escape to the west coast of the U.S. as depicted in the map. The villagers discussed the writings, but when decades passed without any word, they forgot about the visions. However, a few years after the turn of the century, Efim, now an older man, declared that the time had come to heed the prophecy. Believing families hurriedly packed their belongings and fled, while neighbors laughed and jeered. Years later, in 1914, the Muslim Turks initiated a brutal “ethnic cleansing” in Armenia, driving two-thirds of the population out. Over a million Armenians, including all of Kara Kala’s inhabitants, died in these happenings.
Pastor Danny’s great-grandparents, among those villagers who heeded the prophetic warning and direction, obediently traveled to Southern California. Leaving everything behind, they were strengthened, preserved, and prospered as prophesied. Settling in East Los Angeles, they played a key part in God’s Spirit pouring out in the United States through the 1906 Azusa Street revival. They faithfully observed God’s way of life, trusting Him unwaveringly, giving generously, and attending Sabbath meetings, camp meetings, and revivals with anticipation and joy at God’s miracles. God used this heritage, and they were instrumental in bringing Holy Spirit revival throughout the United States in the middle and later decades of the 20th century.
A young man named Sam Lalaian, Pastor Danny's father, grew up amidst this incredible Holy Spirit awakening. He came to Georgia through prophetic direction and married the daughter of a local Atlanta pastor. They settled in Loganville in 1971, buying a rural farm. Shortly after, Sam began his prophetic ministry at the urging of his prophet, Aram Mushegan, a seer prophet and relative. After God used Pastor Sam to work wonders and speak countless prophetic words during the 1980s and early 1990s in a prodigious prophetic ministry, in 1992, Pastor Sam and his wife, Becky, heeded God’s direction to found a new ministry with his family, including Pastor Danny and Julie - they named it “The Dwelling Place,” a dream word Becky received, symbolizing a place where God and man would meet. Despite all the unknowns, Pastor Sam was promised by the Lord that this small beginning would fulfill numerous promises regarding their heritage. The family worked tirelessly for decades, incubating God’s powerful promises until their fulfillment - the City On A Hill, calling of the Remnant, and the building of a holy exclusive Ark today!

What We Believe
We believe in the whole process of salvation ("being saved," as stated in 1 Corinthians 1:18) through the blood of Jesus Christ: initial confession and belief (righteousness), sanctification and separation (holiness), and living a life worthy of being the spotless bride of Christ (salvation). We believe that through Jesus, who is eternally victorious, we have authority over our enemy the devil, who is eternally defeated.
God wants the best for you! He wants you to have health in your body. He wants you to be free in your mind. He wants to bless and provide for you. Galatians 3 tells us that if you have given your life to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed. It goes on to say that if you are Abraham’s seed, then you have the inheritance of Abraham. God wants to bless you the same way he blessed Abraham!
God is looking for a holy remnant. To be a part of this holy remnant and to walk in the supernatural power of God, He requires certain things. He requires covenant loyalty. He requires a surrender of our will, where we say daily “Your will be done, not mine.” This principle is found all throughout the Bible. When God finds a group of people that are willing to be His remnant in this earth, He will literally move mountains out of the way. He will defeat armies. And ultimately, when the church pleases God to this end, like Enoch and Elijah, He will send back His Son to the earth to save His remnant (Genesis 5:24, Romans 9:27).
The Remnant
Biblically, the Remnant is that smallest group of select, different, peculiar people that is inside of an already small group of people. In this book, we are talking about a last-days group of people that I believe will be instrumental in bringing about what the Bible refers to as the revealing of the sons [children] of God - the ones that all creation groans to see, as described by Paul in Romans 8:14-22. They are the ones with the Elijah spirit that will one day pave the way for our Savior to return (Malachi 4:5- 6).

The Ark
"But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be." Matthew 24:37-39

God has spoken to our prophet - destruction is coming in the near future, and it will be like nothing that has come before. But God is preparing a place of safety, a spiritual Ark of salvation, here at the City On A Hill Church for His remnant people - a people to whom He can point and say, "This is how you live holy before Me!" We have been in a process of building and boarding this ark for the entirety of the church's history, and in recent years God has spoken mightily about what it takes to live separate from the world and from the rest of the church world. Destruction is coming, God has a Remnant, and the Ark will save His remnant - there is still room for you on the Ark!
